Timber frame homes are perhaps the ultimate expression of individuality by combining the simple elegance of heavy timber and its inherent structural capabilities. At Timbershoppe we produce both handcrafted frames and machine cut, depending upon your customers' preference. Traditionally Timber frames are pegged together with wooden dowels. However if additional code requires specific joining methods then these can be incorporated into any design.
This wonderful building system allows homeowners and designers a tremendous range of options for expressing creativity in fashioning a custom home. The beauty of natural wood timbers becomes a dramatic backdrop to a homeowner's design wishes.
All common timber frame joinery profiles are available at Timbershoppe. From the simplest Mortise and Tenon, Dovetail or Lap joints to complex Scarf joints and Hammer Beam trusses, we can supply your custom needs. Architects need only to provide us with joinery details and plans or allow us to assist in the design of your clients' residences.
Timber Frames are usually enveloped in a S.I.P.S. (Structural Insulated Panel) System. Utilizing the thermal properties of insulating polystyrene with the strength of O.S.B. or plywood, the SIP System provides your client with the ultimate enjoyment of their Timber Frame. This style of construction provides a thermally efficient draft free environment.
We can also provide wall infills of traditional or panelized stick frame construction, depending upon your needs. Either way, a Timber Frame home is a uniquely different way to add expression and warmth to a custom home.
